recycling and composting
Small changes to daily habits can make a big difference for the planet. In most rooms at LPC, you will find bins for recycling and composting.
Here’s what you need to know to properly sort your waste and grow your sustainability muscles!
RECYCLING at LPC
Bulletins can be dropped in the slotted recycle receptacles located in the narthex of the church. Blue recycle bins throughout the church can take mixed recycling, as shown here. Be sure to empty beverage containers and give them a quick rinse first. Caps can be screwed on to be recycled. Please dispose of straws in the trash. NOTE: LPC’s drinking cups are a plant-based plastic that can be composted. They CANNOT go in the recycle bins!
NEXTREX PLASTIC BAG RECYCLING CHALLENGE
Starting September 28, 2025, LPC will be collecting plastic bags and films. Our goal is to collect 1,000 lbs. within one year in order to earn a free Trex bench for the pollinator garden.
Look for plastic bag recycling containers in the hallway near the office and outside, under the back stairs.
Plastic bags and films must not be mixed with other recyclables in the blue bins.

COMPOSTING at LPC
LPC contracts with Compost Crew, a compost service provider. The church has significantly reduced its waste by transitioning all kitchen disposables to BPI-certified, compostable products.
All church members are invited to collect kitchen scraps at home and bring them to the collection tote at LPC. It is located next to the dumpster. Compost Crew picks up on Wednesdays.
